Introduction

Sector – Yoga Studio, SA

Alila Yoga is a farm-style yoga studio and hot–cold therapy centre based in Hout Bay, Cape Town. Built around the idea of yoga as an accessible and community-driven practice, the studio combines daily yoga classes with sauna and cold plunge facilities to create a holistic wellness experience.

BRANDEYE.AM partnered with Alila at the very beginning of their journey, before the studio opened and before any brand presence existed. With no branding, no website, and no audience, the challenge was to build a recognisable identity and generate real demand ahead of launch.

The goal was to secure 40 founding sign-ups before opening day, validating demand and ensuring the studio launched with momentum. Achieving this required a full brand rollout supported by targeted advertising and a structured pre-launch marketing strategy.

OUR APPROACH

BRANDEYE.AM delivered a full launch solution designed to build awareness, trust, and conversions within a short timeframe. This included developing the complete brand identity, designing the website landing page, and producing supporting marketing collateral such as signage, shortform videography, photography, pamphlets, and branded materials used both online and in-studio. Branded print materials clearly communicated packages, schedules, and facilities, helping prospective members understand the offering quickly.

Alongside brand development, we launched a structured Meta advertising strategy that included awareness campaigns, open day promotions, early-bird offers, and lead generation campaigns.

This integrated approach ensured that every customer touchpoint (from social ads to printed materials) worked together to build visibility and drive action.

CI DEVELOPMENT

A key part of the Alila launch was developing a distinctive brand identity that reflected the founder’s experiences studying yoga in India. Drawing inspiration from Indian decorative truck art and traditional matchbox illustrations, we created a visual language that felt bold, playful, and full of personality; intentionally moving away from the neutral, beige aesthetic commonly seen in wellness branding. The colour palette was selected to feel warm, energetic, and inviting, reinforcing the idea of yoga as an accesible and joyful practice.

At the centre of the identity is an illustrated Indian cow, symbolising care, generosity, gentleness, and selfless giving (values that closely align with the philosophy behind the studio). Typography was selected with equal care, using letterforms that echoed the curved, flowing shapes often found in Sanskrit writing while maintaining readability and strength.

During the branding process, the studio name evolved from Amara to ALILA which we had to quickly pivot to integrate. The final name reflects the Sanskrit concept of cosmic play, reinforcing the studio’s philosophy of movement, exploration, and growth. This direction was further supported by the tagline “No Mud, No Lotus,” a symbolic reminder that growth often emerges from challenge, a message that also subtly connects to the studio’s farm setting.

The completed identity system was applied across a wide range of assets, including logo design, typography and colour systems, signage, print materials, and branded collateral used throughout the launch campaign.
